Thought I would ask DVD guru's here
I tried searching the internet and I'm usually pretty good but didn't really find any good resources on how to transfer LD (laserdiscs) to DVD. I would like to be get the best quality. I guess I could get a video capture card and use the analog composite connectors. Is there a way to get a digital transfer? Maybe through component or optical? Any help appreciated.
You can't get a digital transfer because LaserDisc is an analog medium(even though it's read optically) Your best bet will be to use a video capture card via SVideo, not Composite to get it on the computer. If you want the dolby digital audio and not just the setero audio, you'll need an AC3 RF to Digital demodulator and a tool that will let you add the audio track back into the mpeg. I'm not entirely sure it is possible, however. Though you'll certainly be able to capture the stereo/dolby pro logic analog audio.
