Tiger Woods wins again in sudden death

It is a very nice course.
I played it in 2002. The only thing I found strange then was there was no clubhouse! Just a trailer sitting on the ground...
Have you played Grandview in Huntsville? It is the O'meara course? I played it the next day and IMHO it was a better track.

There was a little work going on back then, I suspect you caught it pre-construction. For the few years I went there they definitely had a clubhouse, albeit not some monstrous compound. Haven't been in about 2 years now.Originally Posted by benny,Jun 19 2008, 02:08 PM

I haven't played Grandview didn't but my folks did about 3 years ago and said it was a really nice course. They stayed at Deerhurst (where Shania Twain got her start, for you history buffs) and golfed at Grandview. Maybe I'll have to check it out sometime...

Ok, I'll chime in and hopefully bring some civility to the conversation, having played the course yesterday. Disclaimer: While speaking to the starter on the first tee they did not cut the rough since the championship.
My group played the course from the white tees and it still played long. We walked to the tee box on 13 that the pros played from on Friday and it was 250 just to clear the canyon and get into the rough. I'm not a monster hitter but it would still take a shot of a lifetime from the tee to get into the fairway from that tee location (which they took out of play).
As for the rough, it was devastating. We kept commenting on how anyone could hit any reasonable length out of this stuff (and I know that's why they're pros and I'm not, even though I'm not as bad as I might have indicated). I actually tweaked my wrist quite a bit trying to hit out of it and lost nearly a dozen balls in the rough even though I saw the general direction of where they landed. I've never seen anything like it.
I won't comment on anything else, but everyone who played that I talked to agreed that it was a fair US Open course and it played tough. I'm going to go take some more Advil now.

This is one thing I love about this site. Some of you believe "everyone can have their own opinion and back it up with facts as long as it doesn't conflict with mine." "Because if it does then I shall have to respond with insults and name calling etc cetc etc. But don't worry, I will put up a smiley face and that will make it acceptable."
So in that vein Jonboy...
You just have yourself a wonderful day!
I'm all about one-liners. I was seriously joking (is that a paradox?). I see comments and I make (to me) funny responses. I do it in real life in real time, too, as I'm driving around with my wife or walking in the mall or whatever. It's just a part of me.Originally Posted by benny,Jun 19 2008, 01:23 PM

I put the smiley face up to show that it was a joke, not a snipe. I fully expected a comeback (I had about four that I thought suitable from your side of things)....

Congratulations and thanks for letting us know how it was.
No problem. I wasn't trying to gloat, but I wanted to give an accurate portrayal of the course.Originally Posted by benny,Jun 19 2008, 01:58 PM

I just prefer to have more info before I make an opinion. I don't blindly accept whatever I read or hear.
You are comparing old school legend golfer to the new one and all you can say is how, unfair the course is being made to give Tiger advantage while having no fact to back this up. So where is your "I just prefer to have more info before I make an opinion. I don't blindly accept whatever I read or hear." now? I never said Tiger is better than Nicklaus because I understand the basic rule to judging greatness. You don't judge it just by sheer number, because Tiger will eventually break all the record, but does that make him THE BEST EVER? Bill Russell has 11 NBA championships compare to MJ 6, but does that make Bill better than Mj?Originally Posted by benny,Jun 19 2008, 10:27 AM
To you! lmfaoDream on lil fella...

Growing up I watched Michael Jordan played and I was too young to fully understand what he accomplished. Few years later in 2006 when I older I saw Dwyane Wade played in my opinion the greatest playoffs run I have ever seen SO FAR. However, I understand that I was a prisoner of the moment because before that I too young to comprehend how great MJ was. So for you to just blabbing away saying all you have said about Tiger is nonsense. Tiger's it great, it is his time right now and I don't see anyone challenging him anytime soon. Just like how my dad said Ali is the greatest of all time and I said yes, in his era, but he would get his ass whoop fighting Tyson or Hollyfield. I said this with the understanding and respect that each are great in their time and it is nonsense and unfair to compare by simply saying "nobody will be better".

I agree with your posts on Tiger to a degree, but I've watched a lot of Ali fights on ESPN Classic and such (since I wasn't alive for most of his career), and I disagree that he would get waxed by Tyson or Holyfield (Tyson especially). Holyfield is a great fighter and Tyson was dominating for a time, but I think Ali (or Cassius Clay if you prefer) was one of, if not the, best of all-time.Originally Posted by Luckyaze,Jun 20 2008, 12:18 AM
