I watched the show the other night and the attempt to explain things with pithy one-liners grates. When I just saw a Viper running around an airport, I don't need similes. You really don't have to explain things like that - they are self-evident.

But it was better than the inane ignorance that the original frequently is.

Glad they did it though. Just like I watch the UK original even when it grates on me at times. I just wish they would put more enthusiasm backed by real and deep knowledge instead of polishing a shiny object for the camera. Or slagging perfection 'cuz either it's not British or it is British in the case of the UK crew.

 

Adam Carolla would really destroy the show. Jay would too, but for a completely different reason.

Adam (both Adams) suck, but with Jay it would have to be Jay Leno parodies TG instead of TG USA.

I like Jay, just not in this job

 

You guys can bitch and complain about the show all you want but, I bet a few months from now when you're all channel surfing you'll run across a re-run of Top Gear and switch to it.

 

Paul Tracy is NOT the Stig!!! The Stig is a lot smaller than Paul Tracy. Just looking at the way the Stig was sitting in the car, whoever it is is small. Like 5'7" or shorter.

Someone in another thread said Danica Patrick. I can see that, she's small.

 

Also Paul Tracy wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut and the Stig has to.

 

Pretty sure the stig is Tanner as well.

With that said, the show was pretty horrible. Everything seemed scripted and awkward. But, I'll continue to watch because it's a car show, I'm a car guy, and hopefully it can only get better.

James May didn't come on board until 2003, before that it was Jason Dawe.
