So making something legal is in no way madating what you can eat or drink but making it illegal is?
There are health concerns that go beyond the abilities of the local level.
Would you have the government lift the ban on Agent Orange? Is that telling you what you can eat? I mean if it gets misted on your food accidentally would it be bad?
How bout red dye #? that causes cancer and yet was in all your food? They made it illegal.
Or is it that you are just a fatty and this one hits close to home?

The change to ban transfats in resturants will have about as much effect on the general heath of the population as a f**t in a windstorm!
If we are going to be healthy than lets do what is right rather than what is expedient.

Why do you say that? Heart Disease is the number one killer of Americans.

high blood pressure, stroke, obesity are all parts of what trans fats can do to people.
Look, people know which foods are good, and which are bad.
You wanna smoke, smoke....
You wanna eat trans fat, go ahead...
If enough people don't want trans fat then the restaurants will be forced to change due to lack of business.
And although I don't smoke so I would be ok with banning tobacco, but I would not be ok with not having the choice. I would make the argument that tobacco has no good qualities whatsoever so it should be illegal. On the other hand, should I argue that being a couch potato has no good qualities so it should be illegal?
It's just like violence or sex on tv, if you don't want to see those things.... don't watch the damn show.
Americans in general know they have no will power to keep themselves away from crappy food (myself included). So now they are trying to invent a system that will help them eat better without them having to make any effort. The places Americans go now will simply not be allowed to use trans fat so Americans can make as little effort as possible to eat better.
Please don't misunderstand my point. I eat crap now and again, but I eat decent for the most part. I get regular exercise. If restaurants stopped serving trans fat and I had to deal with it, ok. But I'm not about to force anyone to do anything.
If it was my call I would be more worried about Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Because heart disease is a generic catagory. What percentage is caused by transfats versus high blood pressure, stroke, obesity, etc.[?]
