For high blood pressure I thought you were Rx's things like beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, etc. and stay away from salt not Lipitor or Zocor. Stroke is caused by blood clots or Cerebral hemorrhage. Obesity is just consuming more calories than you burn.
trans fat is a synthetic lipid molecule and can not be broken down by the body b/c nature has never seen anything like it before. I don't care if you run a marathon everyday, trans fat will still be there, clogging up your arteries. This is why it is so dangerous.
This is why I'd rather eat 100g of saturated fat (I can exercise it all away) than 1g of trans fat (nothing my body can do about it).

agree. However, the consumer should be made aware that the restaurant serves trans fat. Only then the can consumer truly have choices.

this is what's wrong with health care system and America. A lot of the problems in health care can be solved cheaply and much more healthy by living a better lifestyle. But we'd rather be pumped full of drugs than actually get our fat asses of the couch.
Yes, talk about being penny wise and pound foolish!

if theres no positives for any one making the consumption of trans fats why does it matter if theyre banned in restaurants or not?

maybe when we go out and pay for an overpriced meal somewhere with half ass service (since that seems to be all the happens nowdays) some part of it will actually be worth it.

as much as i love mcdonalds and taco bueno, HEAVEN FORBID, you cant eat some of the things there. again as much as i love mcdonalds, places of that fashion (in addition to americas pathetic ethic to do anything) are a lot of the reason why we have some of the most fastnasty people you will ever see! you heard any stories about 700 pound people in china? neg.

its about time america stood up and started taking care of its own people instead of being so concerned with people everywhere else.

first order of business...ban smoking in public places everywhere. i live in jacksonville florida now but my home is dallas (rockwall) texas and the only thing i dislike about going home is going out to eat and having my meal ruined my the smell of smoke in the restaurant where im eating. its not allowed here, everywhere else its still allowed should follow suit.

after that...sure attack the way foods are processed and cooked. people here need to be made aware of whats going on around them.

no. most second hand smoke studies are flawed. this is a case of misinformation driving the government to becoming more of a nanny state. My rules in my resteruant are my own. don't like it? eat someplace else.

i want to serve trans fats? fine. its your own PERSONAL CHOICE whether to consume them or not. jeeze why do we always have to let big brother take care of us? It's time we start taking responsibilities for our own actions, instead of crying fowl, and making more laws to babysit us.

smoking and trans-fats BOTH are healthier than fascism.

edit:
So for a group of foods that are 1. NOT essential to the human diet and 2. pose GREAT risks of further life threatening disease, whats so bad about banning them???
Sports cars are cars that are 1. NOT essential to transportation and 2. pose GREAT risks of further life threatening accidents, whats so bad about banning them???

thanks prohibitionists. see what else might be banned just because some people say it isn't healthy?
