We had a bagless Hoover Windtunnel and I really liked it. My wife got a bug or something and just had to have a Kirby G6. Okay, I like the Kirby too, but mostly because of the power-assist drive wheels. It has a few other tricks up its sleeve but so what? We still use a separate steam cleaner.

She's a neat-freak so it gets used every day (not kidding) so it seems reliable enough. But I think the Hoover did at least as good a job at half the price (and we got the G6 heavily discounted).

Overall I'd say it is a wash between bags and bagless. As mentioned above, bagless is a fuming mess when it gets dumped.

I don't have that much experience with vaccuums myself (I use a Hoover bagged at home), but my boss just brought in an OreckXL for the office and it's pretty nice. The best thing about it is the weight, it seriously weighs nothing at all. That makes it easy to push around and maneuver between furniture. Suction is good, and from what I hear, so is the price. The only thing I dislike is the lack of attachments. It doesn't have a hose or anything to get into tight areas. Might be worth a look.

Due to some bizzare circumstances I have the Dyson, the Hoover Wind Tunnel and a cheap Dirt Devil.

DYSON all the way. It not only gets more stuff up but it's quieter doing it. It is the only one that can be running and won't mess up the TV viewing at the same time, that is unless you are the one weilding it
