Watches
Yeah I'm into watches.
I have a Luminox F-16 watch Licensed by Lockheed Martin and a Bulova Marine Star 98E003. I had a Suunto observer titanium edition, but it was stolen when my rental car in hawaii gat broken into. I also had a first edition Execitive series Wenger swiss army watch back in 1996. It was my first nice watch. It got stolen also.
I had a replica Franck Muller watch that I picked up in Hong Kong. It was amazing looking with 19 jewels and crystal front and back. YOu could se right through it. Saddly it got stolen also. It cost $375, and looked like a $20,000 watch.

if you are not a watch guy, i think you should get a watch that you think it looks good, fit your need and that you can afford. the rest doesn't really matter. don't send too much money on it if YOU are not going to appreciate it. (i.e. don't spend the money a watch just because other people said its good but you don't really care for it)
if you are a watch guy, then you WILL look at the the history of the company, history of the watch in the environment/element that its designed for, movement, design detail, meterial, craftsmanship, brand recognition, how well does it retain value, etc.
if you want a quartz watch (low maintenance and no need to wind them), i would recommend a multi function one. Like the TAG Heuer Chronotimer.

or maybe a Omega Seamaster Pro quartz full size 41mm (the newer black bond SMP quartz)

beware though, some retailer are not authorized dealer of the brand and the watches that they sell doesn't come with original factory warranty, no warranty card and sometimes have their serial number removed (aka grey market). they only comes with the retail's own warranty. grey market watches are cheaper but the resell value is much lower as well.

I have a movado esperanza that I wear everywhere. I got it new for $300. The sapphire crystal is still flawless after about 5 years of abuse. In a decade or so I might get the tungsten carbide one since I scratch the stainless to hell.
I've never really wanted anything else because I prefer a much simpler look than most of the watch styles on the market.

ok i'll bite
i want somewhat dressy but not flashy. no gold or diamonds or other bs. i want fairly durable, my current one the face is scratched to hell and i've dropped it etc many times. needs to be water resistant but not a dive watch or anything. i don't want to send more than around 500. i want it to last forever. mechanical.
thoughts?
