Either life originated from something alien or we came to be due to "spontaneous generation." Either way, assuming time and space are infinite, it's trivial to prove we aren't the first time it happened.

But I would expect that the appearance of UFOs as reported in this type of thing is really a sighting of someone testing a top secret project such as a military funded technology demonstrator run by one of the usual suspects, ie Lockheed or Northrop.

My boss worked at Lockheed for a few years and told me they had at one point been testing a flying, rotating disc. He described it as just like a Mars Attacks style saucer. Ive got no idea if that is true, and I don't really care. The basic premise--that we are seeing our own projects, not alien aircraft--seems logical to me.

So I don't think we're alone, but I find it hard to believe aliens are both sneaking around and getting caught. I think it's much more likely that we're the ones sneaking around and catching one another.
The other side of the argument is that life on earth and it's distance to the sun is a one-time phenomenon (universally speaking). This argument makes sense too, but, in my opinion, this argument could also affirm some people's belief in a god or creator. The time traveler argument explanation for UFO's is also feasible. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that the human race doesn't really know anything yet and is not very advanced, given the age of the Earth or even our galaxy.

I have to believe there is other life out there but I'm not sure we have been contacted. There might be many intelligent civilizations in every galaxy, with the ability to look to the stars and wonder, as we do, am I alone? But take a look at a Hubble ultra deep field images and one might get a tiny idea of how immense the universe is. Even if other life was able to see our transmissions from earth and somehow trace it back to our location, we have only been broadcasting since 1906 and at the speed of light, that is a very, very short distance. And if we cannot be
