Go snorkeling. I love going snorkeling in Maui. I think there's a half formed volcano out there where you can take a boat out to and snorkel in the middle of the crater. Can't remember what the name of it is, maybe some of our hawaiian board members could help me out here.

You can also do some parasailing, if it's in season.

The road to hana thing wasn't for me. I had better things to do than drive some twisty roads for 4 hours to get to the 7 sacred pools. My friends went, and they told me that it's something you might want to do once, but that's about it.

Have a great time on your honeymoon.

Just a little friendly advice, don't snorkel in the early mornings or evenings....that's when sharks feed.

Also, I believe Marks2k is referring to Molokini. Never been there but it's suppose to be a great area for snorkeling and accessible by tour boats....lots of'em!

Are the little and big beaches being discussed located in or called Makena little beach (nude) and Makena big beach? If so, they're beautiful and somewhat isolated. Haleakala crater is a definite must. Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina is very good! Try the double trouble in paradise.

Check out 101 things to do in Hawaii. Excellent source for info on all the islands.

Enjoy! We'll be on the big island shortly!

Pueo, yes, I was referring to Molokini. The last time I was in Maui, I didn't have time to go out there and snorkel. There's a half formed volcano off the coast of Maui, so you have to take a boat out there to get to it. It's a half day thing and I just didn't have the time.

I went to big beach, and the snorkeling there was great. Maui doesn't have many sandy beaches, but big beach was one of the better ones. Lots of sand.

Did Molokini my first trip out there, it is one of the top snorkling sites in the world.

Big beach and little beach are indeed the Makena beaches.

Also if you surf, see if you can find the place called Jaws. It might be difficult to find anyone to tell you cause it is locals and hardcore big wave surfers only. Unless you are used to being towed into 40+ footers you will probably be restricted to spectating (assuming you can find it). For the less expert, there is good surfing at the windsurfing beach North of Baldwin, and also some on D.T. Flemming. There is a book on the location (Jaws), also a movie about big wave surfing called "In Gods Hands" was filmed mostly there. Since it has a northern exposure, it is usually small in the summer, but sometimes the storm swell kicks it up.

Also regarding Big beach, as said before, it is very beautiful, but there is a very short shelf there so the waves break almost on top of the beach and if it is big at all the rip is very strong. Many many serious injuries have occured there.
