Firearms are used in <9% of all violent crimes.

You're 91% more likely to be a victom of a violent crime that doesn't include a firearm at all!
If there's a 9% chance of a firearm being involved, there's a 91% chance of no firearm being involved; that's only 82% more likely (82 = 91 - 9).

Duh. Yeah you're right. Rather i ment to say that if you're involved in a voilent crime you only have a 91% chance of it involving a firearm

I don't think that's right either.

BTW, you're missing some good discussions in the politics forum.

You know what I mean, I'm not even going to bother trying again! I must have hit the crack pip too hard today.

As for the politics forum, I got the impression from the big guy that since; I don't think that the war in Iraq is wrong, that George bush is Hitler, and I don't love NPR that I should pretty much shut my pie hole.

Meanwhile I see the I hate bush politics going on in the corner all day, all year long.

So basically I chose not to renew my membership.

I've thought about coming back but if I really wanted to discuss politics I could crash the vintage politics forum.

I'd rather have small side rants like this one.

Where people sort of hijack a thread, turn it into a politics discussion and then see it either go to the dumpster or get moved.

If you lean left when you hijack it seems to stay around a little longer.

That being said I definitely threw a lot of info out there this time, more than normal.

Mostly because people think that the whole united states is being shot and killed by guns when common sense and reality paint a completely different picture.

This is better than watching a bunch of democrats get together and complain about everything and anything bush, then get called out when I pipe in.

I guess I still feel alienated by the big guy.

Without me to sit there and quote stats like how much fresh water enters the great lakes every day = about 100 gallons per person in the world so there isn't a fresh water shortage. Pointing out that on the same global warming chart that everyone uses to illustrate its presence, it actually indicates that were right smack dab in middle of the natural warming cycle the earth goes through. That there is no causation for CO2 levels and the greenhouse effect. Gun stats that say hey we've been near an all time 19th century low for gun murders despite and because the incredible increase of guns in the population. Without all that common sense, they now get to blame hurricanes, UN violations, and their urinary track infections on GWB and console each other. I think I'll wait until a democrat is in office until I go back there.

S&W 500 w/ hand loads.

Among many many many others (think Waco qty).

Calling 911 is for the French. But in my neighborhood the worse that happens is a golf cart is speeding.
