Default What happened to Noise Ordinances?

When i was 18 years old, my town (approx 25,000 people) had a vehicle noise ordinance. You could not play loud music and your exhaust could not be too loud (mostly motorcycles back then, with the occasional Camaro with "cherry bombs").

Anyway.... I don't live in the same town, but I can't seem to sit at an intersection anymore without listening to all the Gangsta rap thumping all around me...... it is like this in the city, the suburbs, etc.....

I was thinking about getting a gazillion watt thumper for my car just for those occassions..... of course that would be when the noise ordinance would be inforced and I would get the ticket.

Some municipalities still have them, it's just a matter of enforcement. Ann Arbor says if you can hear a car's stereo 50' away it's too loud. Ypsilanti on the other hand says 25'. Muffler noise is limited to 95dB by the state of Michigan measured from a point on the side of the car. Chrysler moved the exhaust of the Viper from side exit to rear to be in compliance.

California is similar- over 50' and you can be cited. Same with exhaust (except trucks and motorcycles): 95dB max at 20" from tail pipe. Communities also have some restrictions as well- outdoor parties/concerts must end by 10pm in the town I'm in.

nothing gets enforced around here.

Window tint is illegal in PA....but I cannot even see a thing inside tons of "city" vehicles in the middle of the day..... I would imagine it would be hard for the driver to see out at night.... but no one gets tickets for that or noise..... ANARCHY!
