What is the most painless and quickest way to die?
That's a good suggestion except I don't drink...I mean, I developed this weird allergic reaction to strong liquors after a few years of binge drinking at Korean clubs - I feel like throwing up when I smell it
That's why I can only drink stuff like beer and cocktails, and even then only little sips at a time.

Damn Richard I try to help..
I wish I could have developed that allergic reaction years ago, it woulda saved me a fortune.
On a serious note, I've seen hundreds of suicides and attempts, by every method you can think of and some you never would. I could never understand people taking knives to themselves and opening arteries. <shudder> I remember several people trying to cut their own throats and one who actually made it!
I never could see it as the 'cowards way out' Enquiring into the circumstances of some these things it soon becomes apparent that often these people did it for the most ridiculous reasons or so it seems when it isn't from their perspective. I was often left with the feeling that if they'd gone and had a drink with a buddy and chewed the fat they'd have made different decisions.
If I was faced with the prospect of a lingering painful death from some malady, it's certainly something I'd consider.
I can't think of any other circumstance which would make me want to think about it though. But then again, that's the rational thought process. When the coroner says "Suicide whilst the balance of the mind was disturbed" that's exactly what it is. For that moment that problem is just insurmountable and the prospect of living intolerable.

Morphine overdose?
I too have heard that drowning as well as freezing to death are quite euphoric (for those who were brought back from the brink) once you get over the initial breathing reflex panic for drowning that is. And as for freezing to death, if you fall asleep while warm you will sleep through the shivering and painful numbing stages and dream your way off, but if you get through it awake -- some sort of euphoria. Carbon monoxide poisoning probably isn't too bad, but exhaust fumes give me a headache.
As for poisonous snakes or just envenomation in general -- I've seen two Discovery Channel style documentaries recently on lethal beasties -- and it sounds like those were horrible, snotty, pus-oozing, sweating, haemorrhagic ways to die.
Like Schatten, most of my thoughts on the matter have to do with the least amount of inconvenience I would cause, and having a way out once the process was set in motion.
Generally, I consider suicide to be quite pathetic, but I can muster up a bit of morbid respect for those that choose to do it some intensely difficult or painful way, like self-immolation or seppuku.
Using a gun on yourself is terribly inconsiderate, and if you're into overdosing or bleeding to death, you'd damn well better do it in the tub so the mess has somewhere we can hose it down to -- especially if you are not discovered until after your bowels let go.

As for those who petitioned briefly to turf this thread -- don't insult the rest of us who have made the rational decision to read and participate in it. If there some things you don't feel should be talked about, then you shouldn't talk about them. The topic wasn't misleading so those who clicked on it knew what they were in for, so thats their peril. I definitely think things would take on a particularly unhealthy tone if we all talked about Worst Ways To Die. But I'm up for that too, and if someone else is, live and let ...
