Since you've got so many knowledged opinions, here's my 2 cents.
Attach electrodes to your... well... ya know... and then attach a sensor to your eye lids... stay with me here. Everytime your eyes start to close you will recieve a small but alerting shock to your area.... Glad I could help!!!
Totally joking... have fun and drive safe!!!

Find any OTC diet pill with Ephedra.
Back in HS I was in way over my head with the extracurriculars. There were many times that I had to stay awake multiple nights in a row to finish projects, so I went down and bought some Ephedra diet pills....
If you aren't well hydrated with a good amount of food in your system, you're going to be in for bad times. Feeling (really) dizzy and mentally fatigued were the norm unless I took it with food and a bottle of gatorade.
My advice is to stick with energy drinks. Amp actually tastes good, and the new "tall boy" can has enough to keep you awake for a few hours.
I agree with the tips about ehpedra, so far. Now for my own!
I took it on and off in high school because I just would never get enough sleep at night. I found that something like 1-2 weeks with caffeine and 1-2 weeks without works well. I would always stop using it when I felt the "kick" had noticeably dropped off and it wasn't working as well anymore.
It is very easy to build a tolerance and (probably) an addiction. I don't see myself as an addictive person and partake in no other substances, so I found it easy to go on and off of ephedra use, at least mentally. Phisically, I remember having very minor "withdrawl" symptoms that seemed similar to people who quit drinking coffee after having a few cups a day for a year or two - minor headache for a day or maybe two, probably a bit more irritable. Nothing major.
As for physical effects while using ehpedra:
First and foremost remember that it is a diuretic. It WILL cause you to urinate much more than normal because it is basically blocking your body from absorbing water at a normal rate. Dehydration can and will occur if you don't sip on some water or similar (nothing else caffeinated if you are trying to remain hydrated, though you can add more caffeine to an ephedra dose for a bit larger kick).
You will be twitchy and anxious.
Heart rate will rise.
Blood pressure will rise (never tested this, but it's very safe to assume).
You will feel energetic and want to move around or run or similar things.
Your appetite will be reduced.
You may have more stomach acid than normal. I normally get heartburn frequently, but I noticed it more/worse with ephedra and caffeine. To put it in perspective though, soda also gives me heartburn that is pretty similar.
I took yellowjacket pills (25mg ephedra, 300ish mg caffeine) and those were the strongest pills on the market when I was taking them. They took about 45 minutes to set in and would last 4-6hrs strong and have noted effects for up to 8hrs. If you dose again with some caffeine at the 4-6hr mark, you should be able to get a pick-me-up and get close to the initial buzz.
Aftereffects:
You will be quite tired once you come down.
You will probably be dehydrated a bit if you didn't take good care of yourself earlier.
You WILL BE IRRITABLE. I was pretty much a miserable a$$hole after 6-8hrs and this would last for a couple hours.
It's the typical rollercoaster analogy that people use for drug use. You go up to a certain high and come down proportionally.
Another thing to remember is to not use more than 25-50mg of ehpedra in a day. These deaths that you hear about due to ephedra were all caused by people massively overdosing on the substance. IIRC the recommended daily limit was 25mg for a while, but it may be 10mg now. Personally, I wouldn't do more than 50mg (2 yellowjackets) in a day, though 3 would very likely have been safe.
Wow, that's long and I sound like a drug addict! I just wanted to share what I learned from using ehpedra for a year or two. I still have some around, but I rarely even remember I have it. I don't even remember the last time I had a pill...
Anyone else, feel free to ask me more about ehpedra if I didn't cover it all. I may not know everything, but between being heavily involved in Biological studies and actually caring about what goes on when I take things like caffeine and ehpedra, I know a bit.
