What's best to paint a car part?
Okay, I wanna do some ghetto stuff to my car and paint a piece of the body work. I have it removed and was wondering what the best way to go about it. It currently has a body color finish on it (red) and the end result is I want to get a gloss black, it's plastic.
What should I do? I'm assuming:
1) lightly sand it to take off the current gloss coating
2) primer it
3) coat(s) of gloss black
4) coat(s) of clearcoat
Anyone have a recommendations on spray paint brands? I'll probably just swing by Kragen or something.... any advice appreciated.

you pretty much got it... fine sanding.. wipe it down clean... primer...
gloss black already comes with a pretty shiny finish if painted correctly... specially on plastic.. so a clear coat might not even be needed... also depending on what part it is.. you might want to go with a high temp... but i think high temp black only comes in flat black.. which in that case you would need the clear coat..
i forgot the brand of the high temp, but i know kragens carries it... the gloss black i've used before is Krylon? the one with the 3 circles?
