on both it being an old thread and the time it takes to get to 140+. And the engine was screaming!!!

My wife and I hit 140 with the top down a couple of years ago in the S2000. There was another S2000 right behind us. When we stopped for gas, the following driver asked, "How'd you know there were no cops there?" I answered flatly, "I didn't." I thought he was going to go into cardiac arrest right there.

And honestly, ever since getting a speeding ticket(reckless) on the way to WTD '04, I have really curtailed my public highway speeds.

 

I guess I'll add my 2 cents:

132 in the S2K with the top down, trying to keep up with a tuned wrx and a turbo Sentra spec V. It really didn't feel like i was going that fast.

In my smoking hot 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L 4cyl:
174kph = 108mph
Kinda shaky at that speed though.

In my buddies 2002 Honda S2000 2.0L 4cyl:
236kph = 145mph
Wanted to go faster but had to turn for golf.

i got my focus up to 125 woo hoo.

 

142 mph in my '00 prelude on a downhill section of the freeway
115 mph in the s2k w/ top down....things get too scary around that speed
150-160 mph in my friend's 700+hp supra....yeah, i was screaming like a girl.

 

Ever think that somebody reads a thread like this, decides they're going to see how fast they can go into a car, and die in the process? Unlikely yes, but you would think that it's bound to happen sooner or later. For me...118-120 in my Accord, 115 in my S2K, but that was the first night I had it, at night, on a wet highway...will never do that again.
