it is much easier to talk to someone who is open to the conversation....

you are both in line to get food and you get the same thing.... joke around alittle...call her a stalker, etc..... laugh then you have an opening....

I would think you need a pretty good line to just plop next to someone reading a book and expect to get anywhere.....
