Oh btw, to go from my own experience, neither "side" of the debate is 100% true all the time. It depends completely on the girl and the circumstance.

There are MANY girls that will have the reaction that the father of girls mentioned above, overanalyzing, etc. ESPECIALLY because you said you would call her TOMORROW (future suggestion, just say you'll 'call her'). And they WILL get over you VERY quickly. However the type that will do that are also the ones that will not be giving you their number voluntarily!!! (keep that in mind, very necessary point to all this)

The other group of girls (the ones that are also more likely to give your number), will fall very well under the category mentioned by the guys saying to wait a few days. Honestly that's my suggestion as well, if she voluntarily gave you your number, don't appear clingy, appear confident, appear busy, appear whatever. If you call her first thing the next day, it gives off the 'clingy/needy' vibe, which she doesn't want. She wants you to be a CHALLENGE, not something that is just freely given to her.

Granted that's in the past now, but had I read this thread at the time I woulda said the same thing

After reading this I realize why most of you are single, it's not by choice!

Yeah, I don't want anyone slobbering on me. I've met "nice" guys who've been confident enough to approach me, but I've also met guys who are "nice" because they have this underlying intense need to please people and want everyone to like them.

I agree that not all girls are the same. Like I said, I appreciate it when someone follows through with what they say they're going to do. But that's just me - I have girlfriends who like the idea of "the chase."

...if by single you mean not having to report to a girl about every activity I do, then you are correct I am single (by choice, though). Still feel/am too young to want to be tied down and have to deal with the drama some of my friends do. not my cup of tea.

And true about the 'gentleman with confidence' or whatever, however even when that is stated that is what a girl wants, that's not actually want she *really* wants.

I'd be more inclined to say it's more likely that women think they don't deserve someone who treats them with respect. You might be surprised how many women are in that boat - they put up with it because they think they don't deserve (or can't get) anyone better. Do you honestly think many people like to be treated like crap by their SOs?

I've seen this crazy thought before.

My fiance told me, after the fact, that she was thinking that I dressed too well, too smart (she's actually smarter),to much the party guy (I am much more outgoing), and I was in too good of shape for her (she's thin) to date?

Amazing how low womans standards are now a days. Then again I've seen what you all have to choose from.

There is something inexplicably puzzling about a woman

i wish that women and humans for that matter would like/be attracted to others who are good for them. but instead, for many reasons, people like people who are a "challenge" or hard to get or just plain jerks. there's something mysterious or exciting about that guy. screw that nice, dependable, smart, boring guy. hate it, but unfortunately, it seems to be the way. so, bottomline, u were prob best off waiting a few days to call, then doing what excel said and not giving her much bad stuff to write on her list and gossip with her friends. sounds like a relationship based on lies, but sadly, she probably wouldn't be attracted to the "real" u.

and for the wild and crazy dad, it sounds like you're actually being motivated by your protective nature over your little girl. u'd like the guy to treat her that way, but are you thinking about what your daughter really is attracted to? the likelyhood of her finding another guy to like in a few days is slim. she will talk to her friends and hypothesize why he hasn't called, but as soon as he does, all the negative thinking will be washed away when he says can i take u out to dinner, because he seems like a catch and he fit her into his schedule. like i said, i hate that things are this way.
