who else does it?
I get the point of everyone trying to save some cash, but I wandered into this expensive place when my last barber retired and did not want to walk out and look like an idiot when they told me $45 for a haircut. They did a nice job and I stayed and they have since raised prices. But...............if you are single, (which I am not anymore) the high priced places are CRAWLING with very hot young stylists and customers.
Now as a rule, you don't hit on your stylist because it creeps them out, but once they find out they like you and you are not a tool, they start trying to set you up. I am very social with my stylist while I am in the chair and she introduces me to everyone in the place. My stylist was always trying to get me to go out with a group of them to set me up with one or the other and a couple times she said a customer wanted my number. Those perks are not to be underestimated.
When I was getting bowl cuts from the last guy, attention from women was, well, far more rare.

I typically get my haircut every four weeks, even though I'm ready after three, I want to save $$. $13 plus tip. My barber is the best hair cutter I have ever seen. He takes his time to get everything right, and he does a fantastic job. I cannot fathom ever spending more when it would be basically impossible to get a better cut. I know people who have moved away.. out of town, out of state.. and still travel back to get their haircut with my barber. Once there was a guy from texas in the shop.. I guess he's very particular.

I am a grown man and my mom still cuts my hair. She does a perfect job every time, so it works out perfectly, plus she likes doing it. Now that I have a son, I take him over to my parents house with me and she cuts both of our hair.

I feel like I look like a douche bag after 90 percent of hair cuts I get so I just stopped going. Buzz my own head every month or so and just let it grow out a bit then re buzz.I haven't gotten a real hair cut in at least 5+ yrs...
Sports clips, 4x a month (usually every Tuesday), $20 a pop with wash and tip.
I get one of three, Stephanie, Marrisa or Jen. All very social, very good and fun. Plus a shampoo from any of them is always great. Ive been giong there since I moved here (2+ years) and even make everyone in shop come out and look at the S2000 when I bought it!
Its the kind of place where if you forget your wallet, they cover you! Ask me how I know!

I get my hair cut for $25+tip by a semi-attractive girl. It's more of an old-school barber shop place and the price drives me nuts. Always $30 after tip.
I've heard that you always want to go with the hair dresser or barber whose hair looks the least well cut. It means they don't have time to deal with their own hair cause they're always busy with other peoples'. I dunno how true that is but whatever.
I'll be happy if I can find a cut in my city for under $20, and till I do I'll keep growing it out and saving it for my mom to cut when I come for visits, just like I did 2 days ago!

so last night i'm sweeping up a pile of hair off my bathroom floor, and i wondered...is it odd that i cut my own hair?
so i'm curious, does anyone else cut their own hair? i get some strange looks when i tell people. i've been doing it for over 10 years, so i'm pretty good at it by now. granted, at the moment i'm just using clippers to buzz it, but over the years i've cut it in different ways. it takes a little time getting used to working in reverse with scissors and 2 mirrors, but i've pretty much got it down now. thoughts?
edit: every now and then i think about how much money i've saved too...let's see, even at 4 haircuts a year, 10 years, $10 a cut...that's $400! nice!

I've been cutting my own hair for the past 2 decades, and I've perfected it a long time ago. I guarantee you that I can cut my hair as well as any salon, and everyone in my family or who's seen my freshly cut hair has concurred. People have often wondered how I could ever cut the back hair, but I've perfected it to a point that I cannot mess up. My cuts are as even as any salon can do.
