Default why do people applaud in movie theathers??

personally, i think it's annoying and pointless. none of the people involved in the movie are there to receive the applause so, they're basically applauding an inanimate screen. i know people are merely expressing their appreciation when they applaud after a "good" movie, but i don't think anyone in the theather really cares if another stranger in the same theather likes the movie, and personally i wish they would just keep their appreciation to themselves unless we ask them for their opinions.

The Yoda scene in EP2 a dude actually screamed out, "oh my God I am about to cum!"

People were screaming out, "Kick his ass See-Bass!"

more that were screamed out:

"$20 on the little guy"

"Pop some Viagra old man"

"Its not the size of the lightsaber asshole"

"Yoda Pinball"

In the Matrix Revolutions when a certain main character dies at the end (dont want to place a spoiler), said character was obviously dying (piping thru chest will do it every time) My friend next to me said "Walk It Off", didn't shout it out but it was loud enough for people to hear, and for them to also hear my dying in laughter....

I wonder what the people on the other side of the theater thought, since they didn't hear the comment, but did hear the laughter.

I can accept the jokes if they are tasteful and funny
considering i'm a clown myself

but then there is those clowns that think they are funny and no one laughs so they keep on talking like we came in to listen to them. ( sounds like alot of them were at star treck with S2K_LA)

now applauding after a movie is pointless and stupid whose gonna appreciate the applaud ?

When I saw the movie, Seabiscuit, everyone stood up and applauded at the end of the movie. That is the ONLY movie that i've seen so far where it actually makes sense for you to want to clap, since the movie brings about every bit of emotion a human being could possess.

I don't see it a problem to want to express your emotions. I'm not sure if this following example would be appropriate, but let's say that all you guys are watching some football game. When you cheer after a touchdown, you're not there at the stadium for the players to hear your support. So doesn't it evolve around the same thing of people just wanting to express their emotions?

Now if you're talking about people chatting and commenting about the movie in the theatres, then yes, i do find that to be an annoyance!

I don't really care about the applauding, but whatever...I was watching Lord of the Rings 3, and there was a PISSED OFF viewer. Everytime the crowd cheered, we would turn around and scream at everyone "its just a fookin movie!! STFU!!!"

Talk about issues, imagine if I did that at a concert..."STFU, I'm trying to listen to the music!!!!"
