Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

Why do people "talk crap"? especially when they have nothing to back it up?

but..... his bullshit talk is usually in front of others.... some of them know better, but when visitors are here they wouldn't know better....... at that point a swift kick in the ass would be a good start.

Oh man, I know exactly what you're talking about. I am stuck working with the biggest jackass in the world. I hate him. He's the same type of guy, low self esteem, so he feels it necessary to continually one up me or just put me down. It drives me nuts. For example, after I bought my car I was telling some coworkers about it (basically saying that I bought a new car, nothing more). This a-hole immediately tells me that his 8 year old automatic BMW 8-series (V8, not V12) will destroy me on the road and/or track (he also mentioned that his car is "really rare" and hard to get parts for - isn't it basically a 2-door 7-series???). I told him I didn't care, but 3 months later he still brings it up. I still don't care. OK, maybe I do a little. Oh, I bought a V1, so a week later he gets one, and now it's all he talks about. Oh yeah, and he makes negative comments about me in front of our client. Douche bag. And another thing, he's screwed over our team for self-promotion TWICE in the past few months.

Anyway, before I get even more carried away, here's what I suggest you do. . . another coworker who hates him now signs him up for every piece of spam e-mail he comes across. He just adds this guy's name to personal ad mailing lists, weird disease mailing lists, self-help mailing lists, all to his work address. It's a little bit immature, but it's better than what I did, which is curse him out in the middle of lunch after I'd finally had it with him (imagine 13 months of explicatives building up, then exploding in one 3 minute tirade). Or, you could just beat the hell out of him. Not the best course of action, but some people just need a good ass kicking before they shut the hell up.
