Quite regularly on a fall Saturday we'll have USC in the Coliseum (always 90,000+, including me), UCLA in the Rose Bowl, and the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium -- all within fairly close proximity. Has that ever happened in Central Texas?

Wherever you are posting from in Central Texas, LA has more sports teams than you do: Lakers (who, BTW, are playing in the NBA finals tonight), Clippers, Trojans, Bruins, Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Ducks, to name a few.
I guess my use of the smilies was insufficient, it was a vain attempt at humor.

Sounds like some people are doing exactly what the thread starter was talking about.

Here in Cincinnati we don't try to say our sports teams are better. We already know we suck. Bengals, Reds... enough said.

Does anybody in LA really care about the Kings since Gretzky left? Also, the Clippers have always played second fiddle to the Lakers. That's just my East Coast transplant bias though, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I just watched the Reds get shutout by one of the best lefthanders in the game. To continue with the theme of the OP "WE KILLED YOU".

Joking, of course.

Gretzky is Canadian. We provide the US with star musicians, actors/actresses, athletes, and massive amounts of oil. So that makes Team Canada better than Team USA!!!!

Now that's competition.

The sports thing drives me nuts, there was a guy in my office who was ridiculous until till he quit living in the developed world and moved to Peru last month with no job, possessions or sanity. He would come in the morning after the Calgary Flames lost and be pissed off until the next time they played (and hopefully won). There is a huge rivalry between Calgary and Edmonton as cities alone, and when you get the fans of their NHL teams going they'll nearly kill eachother when put face-to-face. Literally. Check for newspaper archives.

This guy from my office would go so far as to make personal attacks towards your family, physical fitness level, appearance, etc etc if you liked the Edmonton Oilers. I told him to shut up once and get the hell out of the office, and he did. I'm several years his senior at the company but definitely not his boss but that kind of behavior is ridiculous for an adult.
