Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

Will the declining price of the S2k ruin s2ki.com?

i'm not too worried about it. a young kid who's wreckless and relatively inexperienced in driving will sooner or later wreck his s2k and eliminate himself from the s2k commurnity before we have a chance to get too annoyed with him... but yeah, unless honda decides to come out with a new s2k, then we should probably move on and buy elises and boxster S's to replace our s2ks sooner or later.

For me, it's like TV - it's not a matter of how soon this place will be overrun by idiots, the real question will be where will the intelligent people go?

It took me about 3 months before I just left Street Kills.

I now lurk through off-topic, my local chapter, select car-talk threads, and the gallery (oooo, pretty pictures).

It's like TV, and right now I'm watching maybe 3-4 channels of the 100+ offered. Nothing new, really.

Then the question becomes,
"When will 'our' channel/thread go off the air?"

I just avoid some sections of this board. The "S2000 Talk" is usually filled with idiot questions (why did my car wreck in the rain with bald tires). Never go into "street encounters", etc......

I never go to superhonda or the srt board so I have no idea how bad they are, but with 40,000+ members here it is not the same as in 2001 with about 2000 members.

The number of "RICED" out S2000's in my area certainly has increased.

the "Car Talk" and "off topic" are usually still pretty decent here.... except when certain people f-u-c-k them all up....cough....

The s2k is only a 30k car. Anyone who's willing to finance could easily have one sitting in their garage. Unless you own a 100k+ car and/or a multi-million dollar home, you are still the average person and makes you nowhere near "elite" status.

When I read those dumb street kills threads, the idiocy of the post brings a smile on my face and sometimes even laughter. But instead of saying to myself "dumb idiots ruining the forum", I take that smile and I use it to jump start my day. Its only negative if you take it that way and it will only bother you if you let it. Worse come to worse, use your little ignore button and things will be just as it was.

Some of you think you are contributing to s2ki by organizing meets, dinners, etc. How about making a true contribution and help guide these youngsters who are comming on the board. Noone is asking you to change their lives, but maybe you can help shed some wisdom on threads like "What college should I choose", major, etc.

Try to look at both sides of the story.

There was a similar thread like this on RX7club in the FD3S section. While the car itself is a bit cheaper, the cost to maintain is still expensive. Not to mention its not practical enough for alot of Kids/Ricers. Then tend to wanna bring their "crew" with them every where. While there are riced out miatas, I don't see many around. Usually its an older crowd driving them at events. Also for most younger guys, they are more interested in straight line speed, then a perfectly balanced sports car (ie, srt-4). So don't lose any sleep the S will be safe for a while.

LOL, but what do I know I'm only 22
