Will the declining price of the S2k ruin s2ki.com?

I was thinking the same thing

Selling the car because of your image is as bad as the fanbois IMO

You should sport it because you like it not because of what other people think.

Agreed. I own one because I always have a grin on my face when I'm out driving it. I could care less who else owns it.

My previous cars...

'84 RX-7
'86 MR-2
'87 Conquest TSi
'97 MX-5 Miata

At some point, I kinda' felt like a fanboi when I got the S2K, I'd gotten a great job at SBC, and could barely afford it, but since the Elise wasn't affordable to me at the time, I took what I considered to be the next best thing.

Having said that, I think that a certain type of person buys an S2000, and many of these Civic owners just aren't the type of people. Sure, you'll have your exceptions, but this board will never be like the Civic boards, and not just because the type of people, but because we're ALL a little elitist around here, we jump down people's throat at the drop of a hat.

I remember when we changed from Honda/Acura net to S2Ki, it was a wonderful feeling, and has been declining slowly ever since, hell I'm not even a real "Member" anymore.

It will go to crap when the s2k drops below the 12k-10k mark. 15k and up is still a lot of money compared to used itegras and civics which can be had for around 5k

Which won't be for at least another 5 years so no need to worry.

By then I'm sure the majority here will have moved on to bigger and better things.

I agree with this thread. However, I drive an integra but have kept it stock. Do I want to get rid of it because everybody else mods it? No. The same coul d be said to people who drive Caddy and Lexus cars. Just because people mod those doesn't mean the other crowd will ditch that car. Fads come and go. If you hold on to the car for longer than a few years it won't be as common to see one without mods. My guess is that the mature owners will respect the car and 5-10 years from now they will be a nice sight on the road.

Same thing happened over at the Supra Forums. Once they became somewhat affordable a whole new crowd came in. Usally they would post things that have been beat like a dead horse in the tech section, or Gen Y music and culture I could care less about. While bad for the overall intellectual discussion of anything meaningful, the mod market blew up 10X.

Wait a second... you let the fact that young people can now afford to own this car, drive you to sell yours?

Do you actually care what other people think that much to let it influence your car ownership?

The car is only $32,000 brand new. Not exactly an expensive, or exclusive car, by any stretch of the imagination.
It was a major reason yes. Besides the s2k just started to feel lame. I couldn't enjoy the car since cops eyes were trained to it from all the idiots driving them. Add to that the fact that you need to make it howl to really enjoy it, and you've got the reason for a sale.

Even though it was only 32k, it was still an exclusive car here. People didn't know abt it, so yes it was an affordable exotic that got ferrari type stares from people.

This is another reason why I sold my YZF600. Too many homey's driving them here got the cops involved HEAVILY. Youd couldn't have fun with them anymore. And anyone who has driven sport bikes regularly knows, driving them at the speed limit is NOT SAFE.

So piss and moan all you want about me selling my car due to perceptions, but it is a fact. I doubt many of you would be rockin the car if every idiot owns a project version and the cops are on to you.
