WinXP "Experience"?
I did the major upgrade last weekend. Windows XP, Office XP and Visio 2002. I think that everything works fine, with the exception of my DVD card, as long as you buy the new version of every piece of Micro$oft software out there.
Also upgraded one of my computers to Mandrake 8.1. That works as well also.

I plugged in my xircom realport, sony memory stick reader and quickcam 3000 all of them were recognized and ready to use without drivers. The only thing that wasn't recognized with my netgear wireless card which I installed 2000 drivers for. Pretty cool
A USR. I am going to pick a Cisco one in week or two because I want to see if LEAP is supported as well.
On the USR it simply installed with the 2000 driver, however the configuration software for the NIC is not support as of yet. That is where you configure the WEP key.

I have been using XP since it came out. It was the first OS I installed that I actually read the documentation before installing. Everything went great and is working fine.
The install was one of the cleanest I have done, but I do have to say I do not like the way Microsoft hid a lot of things. The good thing about hiding somethings is it keeps people that do not understand what they are doing out of them.

I like XP. Here's what I'm getting out of it. Aside from graphical fluff, there is actually some additional functionality over win2k!
1) Better network support.
I have a laptop that uses any one of 3 different types of network connections at any given time. One at work with a specific DNS server and DHCP, one RASPPPoe at home when I dial to my DSL account, and another one at home when my roommate is already dialed in and I share his connection. I can unplug from work and plug in at home without a logoff or reboot and XP has no problem recognizing the new connection.
2) Better digital camera support.
I have a USB digital camera. When I plug it into the laptop, I get a preview of each picture on the camera, PLUS A CHOICE TO ROTATE THE PICTURES TAKEN IN PORTRAIT MODE, so you don't have to tilt your head 90 degrees to look at some shots. After moving the pics to my laptop, it asks if I'm done, if I want to upload to the web, etc. The upload to the web sucks, but the support is definitely better than win2k.
No driver problems. Win2k drivers for ny graphics card work win XP. No software incompatibility yet.

Up graded from Win98 first edition to XP as first edition would not support a cable modem. No problems (knock on wood) and it does run faster, smoother, and has better graphics than Win98
