WinXP "Experience"?
I am running XP on one laptop, Mandrake Linux on another and XP on my desktop at work.
I would love to go all Linux but alas, there are just a few things that I have yet to be able to get ported into Linux.

I don't care for it at all. I don't think i would have upgraded unless i got all the free stuff (I'll get a rebate check one of these days).
I dont care how it insists for a new XP driver for every device you install.

No, really, sounds like a cool system, especially for a laptop. I've been using XP too. The most annoying thing that they changed in my opinion is the "search companion". Try this, make a text file called readme.txt and put the word s2000 in it. Then open the search tool and search on *.txt for the word s2000 as the text to search for. It finds it. Now rename the file to readme.jsp or readme.asp and do the same thing. It will not find it at all!!! It really pisses me off when I'm looking for something specific in one of my text files. There is a note on how to fix it on MSDN knowledge base, but I couldn't get it to work for me. I've resulted to using cygwin's find and grep command line tools.
Other than that, XP is really quick on startup. I also love hibernation mode too. I use it all the time. I swear it takes longer to do the RAM tests and stuff than to do the actual booting from hibernation. I think some previous versions of Windows also have that, but you have to muck with the registry to enable it.
I didn't like the new start menu and taskbar at first, but now I like it better than my Windows 2000 machine at work.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, there's a cool networking feature where you can assign two sets of IP settings to the same network card. Then when you move the laptop between networks, you don't have to change the settings for the new network, just plug in and use it and it finds the correct settings to use. I thought that was kind of cool.

Rick, I guess you're online right now. How was thanksgiving? Are you still in CA or are you back?
I talked to a guy a Pflueger honda and he said they are getting a 2002 s2k in next week so I'm going to go check it out in person.
...the important thing about XP is that Diablo 2 Expansion works well on it.
The only incompatable program I've ran into so far is Easy CD Creator, you need the latest update for it. Haven't seen the blue screen of death yet either (crossing my fingers)

The othe thing I don't like is the folder view and explorer views. I want to be able to browse the folder and actually have the status bar at the bottom to let me know file sizes and number of files selected. Is there a way to do this without loosing the new look and feel?
