Actually not to be a smart alec, but the Twin Towers were well known for being designed for a direct hit from a 707, well the group who did this were so well planned that they picked much larger planes than that for this operation.

Amazing as it sounds, that someone puts so much effort into slaughtering so many innocent people in the name of any cause.

Things need to change in this world now or this will not stop.

UK news is now reporting that the 47 storey Soloman Brother's building has now collapsed too.

Its all horrific, and makes my eyes fill.

There are now hundreds of news soundbites saying "Its another Pearl Harbour". I hope to God it doesnt lead to another war.

I don't think sleep is going to be easy tonight...

apparently, after the smoke cleared, part of one of the two towers was still standing, which hopefully means, not as much loss of life

After 20 years of military service and three separate conflicts, I sincerely hope that we don't declare war. Many of you have never seen the devastation of war. What happened today pales in comparison. War is a terrible evil thing. It's indiscriminate and has no equal. Yesterdays might doesn't compare to what is available today. I'm not afraid to do it again for the right reasons, but if you haven't you don't want to see it!

I'm angered and hurt in my heart that people are so evil and so misguided that they would cause this type of devastation. They took the cowardly way out. It takes diligence and endurance to find solutions. They don't want to talk and solve the problems, they want to kill and it doesn't matter to them who they kill. This is what has been passed down for thousands of years and generations after generations. What will it take? More death, more bloodshed, more pain to realize that we have the ability to overcome these things if we really want to. No not again!

May the Lord all Mighty bless all those who must endure this pain. May it be remembered and never repeated again. So much pain, so much hurt! When will it stop! I hope and pray that Mr. Bush makes the right decisions. God help us everyone!

Upon actually watching the video of the second tower collapsing, I guess it is apparent that it collapsed from the top down, rather than being initiated from below as I would have expected if it were caused by secondary explosions to the support structure. That said, a minor point of clarification: The WTC was absolutely NOT a load-bearing-wall type structure. You simply cannot support that much weight on the external walls of any building...they'd have to be way too thick. It was the invention of the frame structure that allowed skyscrapers to be built in the first place. No, the weight of that building was supported by the steel/reinforced concrete frame, not the external walls.

I'm still wandering around in a state of shock. God, I hope we can find out who is responsible.
