Year-end vacation recommendations
Haha dammit, looks like Vegas is gettin' much love.
Seriously, I've lived in California my entire life and already go to Vegas more frequently than I ought to... Wanna try something different this time around.
So what would you guys' 2nd pick be after Vegas?
Looks like cruise is out because nothing leaves from my nearest port of call in the right time frame.
Tell me some more about Florida... I'm pretty down with the Florida idea because NYC seems real expensive. Would it be better to stay in Orlando or Miami? I want to check out the amusement parks, i.e. DisneyWorld, but still be able to go see other stuff and party.
Oh, and for those who have visited both, would you go with Vail or Whistler? I snowboard, if that makes a difference.

I've been to both Vail and Whistler several times.
Snow permitting - I could easily choose Whistler. What a great mountain. Huge, considering Blackcomb is attached to it. Great runs. Don't know about the night life in Whistler though (didn't look like much from what I've seen). I've always stayed in Vancouver (great town) and made the 45 minute trip up the Sea to Sky Highway to the resort. The lower altitude at Whistler helps if breathing is an issue but that also can be a big factor in snow conditions (especially early in the season).
Vail is big. Much larger than Whistler. I wouldn't choose to stay there though. There's much more going on in Breckenridge after hours. You would be better off staying there or somewhere in the Frisco/Dillon/Silverthorne area and just skiing more of Summit county. Vail is great - it just that there is about five other great resorts within 30 miles of each other. Keystone has the best night skiing offered anywhere in the country IMO.

AWESOME
Thanks a lot for the great info! I couldn't have asked for more detailed info and really appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch to everyone! And please keep the input coming.
I'm going to do some Web surfing tonight and see how my various options stack up cost-wise. That will probably be the main deciding factor - whether I opt to be broke, silly broke, or plain bankrupt.
