Default Yesterday was fun . . .

I had a great day yesterday. I drove a new Lexus SC 430 (coupe with retractible hardtop) from Dallas to Beaumont, TX for a local leasing company. They actually pay me to drive great cars like this one from time to time. The thing I found most interesting about this car (other than the 300HP V-8) was the navigation system.

I had no idea where I was going, other than the address. The salesperson I picked up the car from in Dallas simply entered the address into the system and it lead me to my destination verbally (via a very appealing femail voice) as well as displaying a map of my route.

The voice would inform me of upcoming turns, exits, etc. Even if you take a wrong turn or turn off for gas or food, the computer will get you back on track when you're ready to go again.

Upon arriving at my destination the voice informed me that I had arrived. I guess for 62 grand the lady in the system should be real!

The trip home was also made in a Lexus ('97 GS 400) that the guy traded in. A nice car, but not nearly as entertaining as the convertible. Oh, in case you're interested, the SC 430 leases for around $1,200/mo for 48 mos. with $3,400 down. The guy who leased it is a psychiatrist (nice job, I guess).

Did you drive it all the way with the top down??

A bunch of us saw one of those when they first came out. It was during one of the West LA meets last year. One of the neighbirs had one and let us look at it.

I couldn't figure out how to lower the damn top. I pushed the button (with the car in park and the e-brake on) and all that happened was the button blinked. I told the customer to read the manual before attempting to drop the top.
