You ever go to Flea Markets?
I decided to go by myself (kids slept over at a friends)........ who would sit there to sell junk, and who would buy the junk?
There were junk tools, junk radios (not much market for electroniscs that are 10+ years old and in shitty condition), unwanted beanie babies, lots of rusty pocket knives, lots of diecast nascar stuff with the packaging all beat to hell from hauling it forever,
$1.50 - I bought a little 1000 questions book type thing..... we usually take something like this to restuarants with us to keep the kids occupied..and $.25 for some incents....
practically everyone was smoking, had flannel on, horrible grammar, and probably hadn't showered for a while. I loved it.

our local community college holds (pasadena city college) holds a monthly flea market on the first sunday of the month. i've been there a couple of times and it sounds a lot different from yours. i think it fills up 3 college parking lots and there are a lot of vendors with a lot of stuff. it's pretty interesting. it sure is a lot of walking though.
the other stuff they had....lots of asians selling out of $1, $2 & $3 bins..... crapola though..... for $1.00 you get a padlock that barely works (my kids have them), or $2.00 gets your a big tape measure that breaks fairly quickly.......
You get what you pay for basically..... people would rather spend $2.00 8 times than to just buy a good tape measure for $10.00 once.
