Default ZOMBIES! Thread for all things Zombie

Just thought I'd open a thread for people like me who love Zombie lore and really think that it could happen one day. I have read about 40+ novels on the genre, played my fair share of the Zombie games, watched every Zombie flick I could find, and am oviously a fan of The Walking Dead on AMC.

Since TWD started season 2 last night, I have to say the long 11 month wait was worth it! The show picked up right where it left off with Rick and friends leaving the blown up CDC. I love how this show puts the Zombie apocalypse in a very real sense. There really is no tongue in cheek factor like typical Zombie films, and tries to paint a real approach to this apocalyptic scenario. For example, the gang is driving up a rural highway in Georgia on the outskirts of Atlanta, and come to a section of highway that is littered with cars/wrecks. The caravan can't simply drive through the tangle and must slowly weave their way through. Just as their are getting through the mess of cars, they come to a stop when the RV blows a radiator hose. Crap, stuck on a highway with no quick route of escape! Well, here is where the show paints a real picture. Since they are stuck, they decide to scavenge the cars for gas and other valuables. In all of my time reading and thinking about survival, I would have always thought to avoid the major roadways as they would be a venerable buffet for zombies to dwell. I would have never originally thought to scavenge for gas and such and it was really cool to see this happen.

As everyone is scavenging, a horde or herd of zombies is coming up the highway. Word gets passed and everyone ducks and hides underneath the cars as the horde walks on through. I would be scared chitless just waiting for the mob to walk it's way through! If you haven't seen the premiere just yet I won't spoil what happens for you. But needless to say, the premiere was excellent and this season looks very promising!

So without further ado, talk Zombies!

Just read some news regarding another Zombie TV show. Here is a snippet from the article:

Zombieland news: Original scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the feature as a half-hour comedy for Fox’s 2012-13 season.
I loved Zombieland and if the forumla transitions over to TV, I think it can do fairly well. The Walking Dead is a drama and aims at being as realistic as possible. Zombieland as a series on Fox is going to be just like the movie, a horror comedy. Since the original creators of the movie are planning it, hopefully it comes out good!
