If I ever saw a thief breaking into my car I can tell you that I bet he would get down on his knees and pray to get shocked by my little toy instead of the injuries I would inflict on him with my own bare hands.

Regardless I am keeping mine. What am I liable for in civil? Hurting a car thief? I dont think they have a chance there buddy.

But actually, you are probably right. Thank God I live in a country so fcked up as America where you can get in trouble for hurting a thief.

I bet if he was a minority I would prolly be in even bigger trouble you know the presecutor will turn it into a Hate Crime, because he was was forced to steal cars for a living because society and the Man won't give him enough money to just sit on his ass and smoke crack. Yea this is getting off topic. Sorry back to the Auto Taser.

This is NOT getting off topic, and yes you most likely would be liable. Yes, its stupid, but you would very likely be sued by anyone who tried to break into the car and they'd likely win.

Your wonderful little justice-inducing device will probably end up costing you your car (and the shirt off your back) in the end.

Yes, I agree that anyone who attempts to steal from you has got it coming to them, but you're not following America's #1 law: CYA (COVER YOUR ASS).

Good luck with it.

Ever seen or heard a gun go off even though the safety is on? There's no difference to this when it comes to probability and chances.

Defense is one thing, taking drastic measures to prevent or counter that is another. This world is FUBAR, should you take out the person that robs you, no longer will it be classified as self-defense.

Civil liabilities are at the brink of finishing off any modern society itself. At the end of the day, it's something that can be replaced or has a value. There's no need to go all out for that even if it was a 1 off Enzo GT.

@50kV, the amperage is down around the 2mA range, so although it will hurt like hell, it won't kill you... at least if your healthy. And that's the rub. All it would take is a person with a weak heart or a pacemaker to get an accidental shock and it's all downhill. Trying to get a heart out of fibrillation after being shocked into it isn't a walk in the park.
