so my car hasnt sold yet, i've had about four offers of 11k with all the stuff,
and i turned every offer down.
so im gonna keep my car unil i get a decent offer.
anyways, i had a question for you guys.

i have a 2000 S2k as you all know, and im scared to death of getting that 1st to 2nd gear grind that so many seem to have. It happened once when i first got the car, and so i stopped revving first gear past about 5500. Its never grinded again since then , but i dont rev high on first very often as a precaaution. Yet i keep reading new posts about these people with 2000 and 2001 trannys getting the grind really bad. any ideas to fix that? i want to rev high and not worry.. i have an s2000, and i cant even get on it when i want to without worrying of it developing. Any of you guys gotten your tranny rebuild and not have any grinds? Do 02-03s develop grinds?

in conclusion.. lol
i dont have that grind yet, and i dont want it. but i want to drive first gear like a granny. i use GM synchromesh BTW.

Garret may have an AP1 transmission available before long - might check to see if he's selling it and if he has a buyer yet.

 

My 01 never had grinding issues. When was the last time you had your tranny fluids changed? And what did you use?

 

I lve had the car for 9k miles now, changed it once with royal purple when I got it, and about 3k miles ago had them put gm synchronesh.

 

My 2001 had the grind issue. I had the clutch replaced at 1000 miles. This issue was well known about even way back then.

 

Garret - does have an AP1 (03) Tranny taking up space now. No buyer as yet.

 

How much is your 2003 tranny selling for.. And why is it not in it car anymore?

 

I removed it for weight savings

Acutally I did an AP2 tranny swap.

 

Now he has a AP1.15

 

So now Garret doesn't have a AP1 he is slowing coming over to the dark side.
