Default Rear Bumper Defect

Hi,

I purchased a 2005 Silverstone this past July and I recently noticed a defect on the rear bumper(passenger side rear bumper not flush, paint chipping)..apparently many people have this mfrg. defect

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...=311610&st=125

Any folks here in Ottawa have it? Anyone got it fixed? It's annoying me and not acceptable on a 50k car.

Thanks

No problem with the rear bumper, but I just noticed a water leak from the top/passenger window interface in the rain yesterday. Also, the carpet had a 3" wide damp spot under the tool kit in the trunk. It appears to be coming from below, rather than a leak down from above. Is this from a drainage hole, or is there something wrong here?

No problem with the bumper here.

Zeis in regards to your question regarding the passenger side window leak. I use to have a leak with my softop on the drivers side, but that has seemed to go away. I'm not sure the exact reasoning behind it probably the window seals.

Hmmm tool kit water leak? I haven't heard of that one. Maybe try one of the other forums for some more info. Sorry no help here!

I did have a paint problem, but not on the bumper.

Interestingly though, after my small rear ending, when I had the AP2 bumper installed on my AP1, I did have that gap near the tail light.

The bumper is held in with clips. Maybe a bad tolerance and loose clip gets that misalignment. I've had something similar to this when I had the rear bumper removed and put back on. Gave it a good whack and it popped back into the right position.

As far as that wet trunk, its probably the water collecting from the leaky roof under the carpeting.

I'm not definitely not going to accept the rear bumper the way it is...I'm going back to the dealer and tell them about this defect seeing as I'm not the only one with this. Some people got the dealer to take the bumper off and add a rivet as per the previous forum topic. I just don't want any more paint chipping off.

Thanks
