2012 PGP Lapping Days
Good times today at PGP with Lig, Twanny, HiMike and Alfy. Good turn out, the parking lot was full. My highlights of the day were a new 1:16:46 personal best time and catching up to and forcing a track exit of the Viper GTS and the Porsche 911 C4S. Liggy and I both had issues with Harry's Lap timer. Neither of us could get it to work in plain timer mode. It worked great when I switched to video mode. Still need to figure that one out.
Had a great time out there with the S2K crew and various affiliates! I'd definitely agree that we had quite a presence there. Mike - congrats on the new lower time, that is seriously fast for not having any suspension mods. HiMike - thanks for being the camera man once again, I owe you some
. Jeff - I owe you some
too ...snappin' necks and cashin' checks
Twanz - thanks for the
musubi, it was tastey
psst - that Viper is a 'GTS-R' clone and I believe it has a fair amount of race-prep done to it.
It sounds like I was in the 1:14's somewhere according to some kind folks that were timing, so that is good news. The 1:14.9 I got last time was the only 1:14 of the day, so it's nice to have some establishment

Nice driving. There is time to be had if you are willing to push a little harder, and drive a line that does have a little more risk involved. Mainly track out wider and get on the gas sooner. I couldn't tell on left hand turns, but on most right hand turns leading to a straight section you are leaving a good 3-4 feet of room between you and the edge of the track. That means that you are not carrying as much speed as you could, and are not getting on throttle soon enough. If you look at the first time you enter the straight after you first full lap you don't seem to get on throttle until you are almost going straight. You should be able to roll on throttle from the apex and as steering angle decreases add more throttle. Other than not using all of the track available you seem to have good lines and the only other place that really stands out is in turn 3 you are turning in a little too soon. It feels like you want to turn in, but wait just a tad longer and you should be able to carry a little more speed. As far as line goes watch Jared's videos. He seems to have it figured out, and that is where I found some of my pace when I was trying to learn that track.
