Cracked windshield advice needed
Driving back from Seattle on I5 last night, I heard a big rock hit the windshield. This morning I've got a chip and a 3in x 3in crack in the shape of an upside-down "L" in my windshield.
I'm taking it into the dealership for maintenance anyway. Am I looking at a complete windshield replacement? Is this an insurance-level deal?
This is the first time I've ever had a rock crack my windshield so any advice is appreciated

Your insurance considers having a cracked windshield a saftey issue, so they want to get it fixed or replaced. The windshield places will work with the insurance company to cover your deductable, so you shouldn't have to pay anything.
It sounds like your crack might too big to be repaired, so you may be looking at replacement; the usual guideline is if you can hide the damage with a playing card, and it's not in the dirver's direct line of sight, they'll try to repair it.
Good luck,
Ted

I am in the same boat. I have a a chip that is just slightly over the size of a quarter. The insurance company and repair shop said they can only repair something that is about the size of a dime.

I too took a stone to the front window.
My Spa has about 6,000 miles on it.
Although I was obviously upset, I'm at least glad it gotr the window and not the hood!
Mine is spread out about 2" and I'm just starting the process of figuring out who will do the replacement and how I can be sure to get Honda Quality glass!
Good luck.

Welcome to the club: I picked up a two-footer at ThunderHill when a Viper I was tailgating went off and kicked up some rocks. I'm calling the insurance co today and I'll let you know what transpires at my end.

Well I called my insurance company (Safeco) and they offered to use their preferred vendor Safelite or any vendor of my choice. I don't know of any other vendor. I told them that a dollar bill won't cover the crack (which is growing).
I guess I'll find out when they call tomorrow. What did you hear Jerry?

Well I spoke to Safelite today. They're going to have to replace the windshield outright (arrgh). It's under my deductible and going to cost about $400-500. I'm so bummed.
