If a crack has started it can not be repaired.

I wouldn't bother going through insurance. Your deductible is probably more than the windshield.

Yeah, it is a big chip with a hairline crack immediately under it.. I didn't even have time to neglect it... ;( I realize it will probably require a deductible in which case it would not be worth it, correct, but you never know maybe there are some policies that cover glass without deductible...

You can fix a crack.

So this company says

http://www.crackmasterscanada.com/

Or it is just a car why worry about a windshield

My advice is wait until it gets bad then replace the windshield.

I've had two cracks in mine for over a year, they haven't gotten any worse, so I'm just leaving them there.

Around here most people have full glass coverage as a normal part of their policy. My insurance company as an example will pay for any crack repair work needed, they feel it is a way to potentially avoid the bigger charge for a full window replacement. Might be something you want to look into in your area.

I know people who have had their cracks repaired (boy that sounds bad) and have been very pleased witht he results, as in no more cracks.
