Lapping Day at Pacific Raceways
That was a recommendation from one of my friends...get an instructor to start the day and you can practice the teachings for the remainder of the day. I think I'm going to be doing this until I get a few more lapping days under my belt.
I also need to get signed off to drive alone. Hopefully that isn't too hard.

I probably did 25 lapping days with Proformance, before I started racing. I used an instructor almost every time. If you want to get better, you'll need someone who knows what your next step should be.
Getting signed off to drive alone only means that the instructor feels that you are not a danger to yourself or others, and that you'll give point-bys appropriately. If they've let you come back for this day, they're satisfied with your progress, and you shouldn't have any trouble being allowed to drive alone (in the slower group, of course).

while I'm with people who spending $$ for hiring instructor, the cheap ass in me telling me that instructor every session doesn't help.
All Randy needs are more track time. I will think if he saves couple times instructor fees, he might be able to go to 1 more event next year. (or during the winter) Don't forget that there's some 'free' instructors provided in other clubs. Get an instructor every 2-3 events, that way, he gets to get comfortable with the track and driving alone. Yet, next time instructor sit in the car, instructor will be able to pick up any flaws/ bad habits...etc.

Nice! Here's the link to their schedule. You just call them to get the necessary paperwork.

LMK when you've signed up...maybe we can roll down there together.

That's the way I went, and I'm glad I did. Others have done, e.g., Alfa days, which are fine, but you get volunteer instruction, which may not be as good. But it's a lot cheaper.
