Do you remove the spring, and keep the rope installed? hmm. for some reason, .this sounds like a very bad (and Ghetto) idea. Is it really that much time out of your day to drive to Autozone/Shucks/Napa/etc, etc, to borrow a spring compressor?
Before taking off the top hat, you tie a high tension rope (not the dollar store kind) and tie the springs in its compressed state. When you remove the top-hat, the springs will not de-compress and the top hat will come off easily. You can leave the rope tied to the spring if you want because when you are going back to stock, you can slide the spring back on and the top hat will fit nicely since the spring is still compressed.

But then again, if the idea "sounds bad" to you, you don't have to try it... I am not here to tell you how to spend your money so if you want to drive to autozone and rent out a spring compressor, thats fine too...

haha... at least shoe laces are better than the ropes you find at the $1.00 store...

Wyatt: Last time I spoke to Jerry, he wanted to get an s2k so is300 is probably a no-no. On second thought, I think we should scratch both the s2k and the is300 and convince him to get a GTR and give us a ride.

But then again, he will probably miss a few payments, lose the car, file for bankruptcy, blame us for getting him into a financial crises and we will both lose a good friend of ours...

He should really buy your s2k though... especially after a brand new spring install.

When I get back from Iraqishizzlestan (in a couple of weeks now...), I wouldn't mind sponsoring someone to come on to Ft. Lewis to use the DIY Craftshop (Full lift bays + Regular bays + Bunch of tools and specialty tools).

It's like 6-8 bucks an hour for lift bay and 4-6 for regular and like 5 bucks for leaving it overnight.
You get like 10 dog tags and turn one in for each specialty tool you use and get it back when you return it.
The guys that work the counter are normally mechanically inclined and knowledgeable. It's like exit 117 or 118 but you gotta get a pass with a sponsor through exit 120 front gate.

They also have a Bodyshop across the parking lot but I don't know if that is a DIY shop

Holy crap, that is too cool. Are you serious??
And they have the lift + tools???
Too cool.
Maybe S2kaddicted or anyone else willing to help out can meet me over there if it's not out of their way.

I drive by all the time towards DuPont I-5 exit on my way to Olympia.
