Default Bumper was repainted... opinions on job?

I found a paint defect in the rear bumper of my S a week after I bought it (paint was peeling a bit where the bumper met the left rear 1/4 panel), so I pointed it out to the Winnipeg Honda service manager and he said he had to verify it with Honda Canada, but that it should be covered under warranty.

Sure enough, 2 weeks later he called me and said it will be covered and I scheduled an appointment.

The car went in Monday last week and I got it back Thursday afternoon. I looked at thoroughly outside and it looked fine. But when I parked the car in my underground parking, it was a whole different story. The bumper was lighter in color than the rest of the car.

However, when I take the car outside, it seems the right color again!

I attached some pics from Saturday so you guys can see what I mean. Is this normal or something I should complain about? The front bumper doesn't show this behavior (it matches the rest of the car in either situation). But maybe it takes awhile for new paint to cure and match the rest of the car? I'm feeling kind of jipped as I have this new car that is only 1 month old and all of a sudden has been partially repainted and not looking so brand new anymore.

First 2 pics were taken in my underground parking lot, 3rd was taken a couple minutes later outside.

That really doesn't match to well under interior light. Take it back and show them the car inside.

I've noticed that the angle of the '04 bumper makes it look like a different shade of paint.

I have two shades of white at that spot where the quarter panel meets the bumper.

Not saying yours was done correctly or incorrectly, but this could have something to do with it

nish, this is the same problem you have. Honda has a serious "fit & finish" issue with many 2005 S2000's where the rear bumper cap meets the fear quarter panel on the passenger side. I do not know why it seems to be just the 2005's as the 2004's are the exact same. There are many unhappy 2005 owners with this problem. Crowfoot Honda here in Calgary has a brand new 05' Berlina Black in their showroom with this exact problem (it looks terrible and is very unlike Honda) !! In regards to your paint, the body shop needs to blend the rear quarter panels with the re-painted bumper cap or the color difference will always be noticeable, they did not do this. I had the rear bumper of my TSX repainted and the rear quarter's/door's had to be blended and re-cleared so the paint matched (Milano Red). I would hold Honda and the bodyshop accountable.

you know i noticed a color difference even from the factory on mine and sveral others cars with the rear bumper. Not sure what it is but under certain lighting conditions the 3/4 panel and the bumper seem to be different shades of color.

Really? I wish there was a local 04-05 yellow around so I could compare, but there isn't. Any of you 04-05 yellow S2 guys wanna go to an underground parking lot, snap a picture and post it?

mine's not like that. But GPW is an example of it. Flourescent lighting is the culprit. Outside they look fine. Inside under the lighting the the F/R bumpers look slightly different than the body. I really think it has more to do with lighting than anything else. Take a white pair of tennis shoes, look at them outdoors, and look at them under flourescent lighting...they look almost yellowish. Same effect.
