Thanks Murray!
With the SASC school, Tim Aro has mentioned that he would like to come to Calgary and I can assure you he is an excellent driver and fully capable of handling S2k's! In fact, I would venture to say he is one of the best drivers I have ever ridden with: He has that extremely fine touch/feel for cars that I have seldom seen even among national-level drivers.
Anyway, provided we have enough people there would be no problem arranging classes such that there is an S2000 group - that would be fun, of course! (need about 6 participants or 1/2 of a school).
Note that there is an advantage in going with another car club school since they would be providing the site, insurance, cones and timing equipment for the schools.....otherwise we would be faced with a huge task. It is possible to perhaps run at Race City or other facility where you might get insurance and cones and maybe even timing equipment (Race City has timing equipment for Secret Street but it may or may not be adequate).
I think the SASC school will likely fill up quickly and I don't know if they have enough room on the lot to have concurrent schools.....so maybe another school can be set up with an Edmonton club or another date with the CSCC and/or SASC???
Perhaps the idea is to contact and work with the various club(s) in order to show that there is interest in having a school and then it may happen.
It would be fun to have a bunch of S200's for a school because they are really fun cars for autoslalom/autcross and are very competitive in AS (any year in fact). They can be tricky to drive at the limit but I think that is one of the factors that makes them fun - the challenge!

My timing system may be complete and calibrated in time for such an event, but (and it's a big but) timing is a small part of the job.
I agree with Reijo that arranging for a club to run the school is the best way to go. It's just too big a job otherwise.

Great!
The Calgary school that is being set up thus far will take place with the Southern Alberta Solo Club (SASC): www.sascsolo.ca

I believe it is being set up for the May 23/24 weekend and it will be in Calgary.
I have mentioned SoloProdrivingschool.com on other forums as well including the Miata forum and there has been some interest expressed. If the individuals all got together they could easily form another school.
Hmmm.....what about with the Miata club guys? I used to own a Miata myself for many years and won a couple of US titles in one (highly modified albeit!).
I'll ask around and see what happens.

This is probably a better thread concerning the school:

I am already signed up for both days, so I'll see you there. Of course, you can always meet me at an autoslalom before then...
