Default Dealer (service) recommendations?

I'm not happy with T&T at the moment (see this thread)

Can anybody recommend a competent dealer for service? ITRGary, it's time for you to move to a nicer city

Tim,

Never have been happy with T&T, and never will be personally. I woudn't buy from there, nor would I service my car at the hands of their incompetent, rushed techs, who no offense, but due to the imminent language barriers that often exist with some of the guys have a hard time comprehending what exactly you want them to do, or what you are asking of them!

Now for my own options.

I have a good friend (Darryn) who was a VW tech @ Northland for 16 years. Knows VWs inside and out. Infact, he has helped me out with many of my small quibbles lately with the Golf. He recently moved to Honda West and is now working there. His work is good. His experience with Honda limited. Nonetheless, he is still a qualified mechanic. You make your own judgement.

I have also, over the years come to know a tech by the name of Chad at High River Honda. Good, friendly chap. Does clean work, takes care of your car while working on it, and def'n knows his stuff. He has been with High River for about 11 years I think. When we take any of our vehicles to High River, Chad is the guy to work on them. At one point, I would take my Toyota to High River but have them serviced at the Honda dealer next door by Chad, since I trusted him way more than any of the techs at the Toyota dealership. Go figure. In addition, I know Shane Matthews (Service manager) personally, as well as the owner of the dealership. I haven't had any, nor would I expect any problems from that bunch. Good group of people, clean dealership with old fashioned, personal, laid back service.

Hope that helps
Asif

Well. The first place I lived in Calgary when I lived there was 34th floor west end of downtown facing west. Nothin' between me and my mountains.

Lovely city buuuuuut...

C'mon and visit us up here!

Tim...I take my car to Honda West (even though I bought it at Crowfoot Honda...but that's another story).
I really like their service manager (Bernie McQuaid) and the dealership owners (Simpkins (sp) are really terrific folks. Bernie has always seemed to be a very trustworthy and knowledgeable person. I am getting a new clutch next week under warranty (the buzz thing) and he knew all about it. He didn't even ask to go for a test drive. He also asked about all of the other things that had come up (seat belts, spark plugs etc). Having said that, he is not the person working on your car. Last year I had my car in for an oil change and to install my new tires...it wasn't a great visit! My car came back with the wheel weights on the outside of the rim (ugly!!), rims scratched, the dip stick was put in backwards, and when they parked my car they pushed the nose into one of those cement barriers...other than that everything went well!

I will continue to use Honda West....as long as everything goes ok. If it doesn't, then I would probably go back to Crowfoot.

I seem to be getting along very well with Paul Faverin, the General Manager at Calgary Honda. I keep telling him about the problems we are having and so far he is making things happen. I told him that they had a terrible web site and they have improved it to the point to which it is using the same interface as S2KI.com.

I am over emphasizing how bad the service department at T&T are and telling him to make an extra effort to do things right to attract more business.

FYI: Calgary Honda has 2 Silver S2000's and there is a demo Suzuka blue that Paul is driving.

I have not had good service @ TnT either , I am trying to get my dash controls repl on warranty , and they had no idea what to order and they never call when parts are in , not to mention that it takes weeks to get booked in and the follow up is brutal. I am currently dealing with Honda Canada to try to get my creased wondow replaced, they are to get back to me this week , I am not happy with that design, there is even a bulleting onthe ntsb USA site about the window issues
