While you're here, maybe you can tell me what you did to the picture other than number it?
What didn't I do to it?

Are you talking about the picture of a white S2000 with number on it?
They were all custom drawn for their respective owners.
>>>If you're talking about me "stealing" Honda's hard work, you're misinformed, as nothing has been stolen from them. The drawings were commissioned by the OWNERS of the respective vehicles. It's the same as if you paid someone to take a photograph of your car- it's not "stolen" if you own the vehicle.<<<
I think that's wishful thinking; thinly veiled self-delusion to justify your actions. Clearly it's not a picture of your car or theirs, so it's not the same at all in that regard...and suggesting that it's commissioned art is simply not a credible argument. A generic image (whether photographic or illustrative) of a car, a wheel, a spoiler, a toaster or any other consumer or industrial product is the intellectual property of the company that created it, and we are all legally and ethically bound to seek express permission to use it for commercial gain. (Journalists and the media get cut some special slack, but that doesn't apply here.) Don't believe me or agree with me? Then put the whole discussion to rest by writing a letter to Honda's legal department telling 'em that you're cranking out dimensionally correct illustrations of S2000s and selling them online. While you're up there on the ethical high road, make a few copies of the letter and send 'em off to the aftermarket suppliers whose designs you are also using for commercial gain. I guarantee you'll get a nice collection of cease and desist orders by return mail, if not via courier. I wouldn't be surprised if the site owners get a couple themselves.

How so? Each one WAS drawn to the exact specifications of its owner. I asked for photographs to complete the drawings. Look at Emil-St.Hilaire's drawing. Are you going to tell me this is not HIS personal car?
How about Sherwin's car?

How about Importsport's car?

There are 49 other custom and individual drawings I did. None are the same, they are ALL done to the specifications of each owner's individual cars. How is it NOT credible that each drawing was comissioned? People did not simply say "draw me one with this...," I drew it as specified to their own car.
I do not need to seek express permission to use it for commercial gain, as the rights to each car (and all the respective aftermarket parts) have already been PURCHASED BY THE OWNER. You're telling me that if you pay a photographer for photographs of your car, he must ask Honda for permission? I am not selling a random likeness of Honda's car. I am selling a service- A custom created illustration of someone's car.
Let's all agree to disagree and move on.
I'm going to miss having Dave around but hopefully we'll be able to tap into his extensive knowledge by some other means. At least us local folk can go for coffee or a meal with him.

Is justifying one's self-serving actions for peronal gain a course taught in the US school system? This discussion is ridiculous...and your protestations are completely disingenuous. You've made your points...time to leave our forum now. Don't make us call the RCMP and have you escorted out <g>

It was a mistake posting in this forum. Believe what you will, I was just attempting to clear up some incorrect conclusions. All my posts in here have been both respectful and without baseless assumption. Unfortunately, I believe this is precisely why I don't belong.
I won't go so low as to participate in your "United States vs. Canada" tangent (
).
