Your exactly right xviper. It is all relative and to each his own. Driving in the snow will certainly show what the car would be like with way to much torque.
Personally, I have issues with the unavoidable corrosion and abrasion issues in the winter but it really boils down to this: He who logs the most enjoyable miles in the end wins the "most fun with the car" category and that's what it's all about anyway.

I look at the S as a snowmobile that can be driven in summer.

As anal as I am about my car, driving it in winter is no big deal. The trick is to make sure you wash it often, even if its really cold out. You're not going to hurt the car by washing it when its -20 outside.... the main thing that needs to be washed is the underbody and wheel wells anyway (for winter driving).
