Default Hijacked thread - was about Dell Canada

I was on their site last night no problems, but today, I can't seem to open it up. It just hangs there with a blank page trying to open.
Can some of you guys try to open www.dell.ca and tell me if you can access their site? Thanks.

Bloody HECK! It's working for me now, too. I couldn't get in this morning and I've noticed this on other occasions, too. I wonder if they get too many guys on and just can't handle any more sometimes.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.

Dave, if you know anyone that lives in the US and is willing to help you out (which I'm sure is anyone on s2ki), they run a sale down there quite often... $750 off $1500 or more, on laptops... and occasionally on desktops.

I wouldn't buy anything from Dell Canada unless you're convinced you needed to spend a lot of money

I'm very reluctant to buy from Dell as witnessed by a friend who had all kinds of trouble with them on a purchase. I just needed to print off the specs for their new plasma TV to compare with the Panasonic I'm looking at. The Dell specs are very impressive but I'm not willing to pay another $1000.00 extra on an unknown product when Panasonic is a more proven unit.

Remember we were discussing TVs in Red Deer? I want a wide screen format and I think I'm now tending toward a plasma over a CRT type of TV (poor viewing angle). I'm not that fond of the rear projection LCD kind as I want to hang it from a wall.

Hehe, I guess we could start a whole new thread on this topic, huh? Oh well, it was my thread so I guess I can hijack it.

Dave, here is the TV you need to buy!

Costco has a 32 inch Daytek flat panel LCD, 1366x768 pixels... $1499. $1299 with coupon from June 6-12th. NEC panels, so they're very good quality.

Plasma's just aren't worth the money these days. A high definition plasma has a strange resolution (1024 x 768 or 1024 x 1024)... neither resolution being a 16:9 aspect ratio... and then of course the cheap plasmas (which are still 2-3k), are only 768 x 480.

I'm buying that daytek tv once my house is sold... I have a 60 inch rear projection LCD right now that I like, but I'd like a sharper picture.

Dylan,

This is the unit you're talking about?

http://www.daytek.ca/dt-3220.html

Daytek looks to be a Canadian company too. Hmmm... I'm even closer to building my HTPC and I've been trying to decide what I would do for a monitor. I was leaning towards a 17" LCD in addition to my regular TV and go dual headed. But with the specs and connectors on that Daytek unit, I may just run that instead.

A 32" LCD for $1500. How does that compare with the rest of the industry? And where do you score a coupon?

Chris.

Some thoughts on the Daytek:

I guess this Costco deal has caught lots of people's attention. And Dylan, I see you at DHC!
