Isn't repairing computers FUN! lol.. they drive me insane. I especially hate it when a motherboard needs to be replaced. Thank god my Lian Li case has a slide-out tray, makes it a lot easier for my own usage.

I can't wait to get moved into my new place and get the tv hooked up. I'm going to use it as a third display (I already have dual monitors).

just bought a Sony 32" HDTV LCD (model KLV32M1) at Costco for $2500! Exact same one at A&B which they are selling for around $3600. Asked them to match the price and the salesman looked like he thought i was lying and that I should go buy it! He told me there cost on it is $3200. So i said i going to Costco!

hooked up my dvd player with RCA cables for the time being and couldn't believe how bright and crisp it looked. even my cable hook up with the coax looked great. going to get some component out cables to hook up the dvd to the HDTV input....

It's too bad that Costco has the demo hooked up to a satellite or cable feed as it does not show the true potential of this LCD. if i wasn't eyeing this exact same TV about a half a year ago at A&B and didn't know how it really looked then i would not of bought it. there feed that they were using is horrible.

Actually a traditional CRT is still unmatched in picture quality.

I went with an LCD because I'm tired of hauling bulky, heavy tv's around (I tent to move a lot).

So if you don't mind lugging around the heavy TV, they're still your best bet as far as picture goes.

CRT is the best for picture quality but once u start getting up past 32" they get too big(unless u have the space for it)

CRT is still my first choice but don't have the room.

what's cool about the LCD is that i have a spare desktop sitting around and now i can hook that up to the LCD. watch unsupported video formats that i can't normally watch on my dvd player, play games or surf the net from the sofa!

Well, I finally got it. They got it in and some gung-ho salesman took it upon himself to have it opened so he could put it on the floor to show customers. As soon as my guy in "corporate sales" found out about this, he ordered the them to pack it back up. Well, in the process, they scratched it up. So a new one was transferred from Edmonton. The delay was only 4 hours and I got a brand new, still sealed in the box, unit. He even gave me another little discount for not using my CC. Worked for me.

It's all hooked up to everything and it all works great.
"Normal" TV viewing is ho hum and is actually worse quality than my old CRT. "Digital" channels are not much better. The HDTV channels are SPECTACULAR! And of course, watching DVDs is a delight.
And using it as a computer monitor? WOW! It's just like my old 19" LCD but waaaay BIGGER! Nothing like a 40" monitor to make it easy on the eyes (no glasses needed).

Ok, you want to really make it super cool? Start using picture-in-picture to watch TV in the corner while you're surfing the internet. These TVs are just WAY too cool.

About the crappy picture, try turning down the sharpness on the LCD when viewing cable. I thought cable looked terrible too, and setting up a mode for it helped.

Chris.

looks great dave! Glad to see you finally got it. I agree, using these big LCD's as a computer monitor is GREAT.

I always download the latest top gear episode ever week and just have component video hooked up from my ati radeon x800 vivo.

it would be better quality using a DVI cable, but I have that occupied with my HD receiver... the component video still does a great job of displaying a crisp picture on the LCD.

Guess what? This TV doesn't allow the PIP to work when using the PC feed.

Thanks for the hint. I'll give it a try.

I'm using the DVI output on the Shaw cable box to the HDMI on the TV. For my PVR, I'm using component. For my VCR, I'm just using the 3-wire AV plugs. It all seems to work quite well.
