Default My encounter with an S2000

Alrighty...my first "encounter" story.

I'm at Macleod Trail and 29 AVE on the southbound side. Along comes a black S2000 with an older driver (late 50s) with the top down. Black interior...MY2000 or 01. Next to that pulls up a silver E46 M3. Picture perfect. It would have been more perfect except I was on my way to a VW show and had the Golf not the S. The S driver looks at me and the M3 and begins revving his engine. Rather surprising for such a "mature" fellow if we can call him that. I smile, but the M3 driver ignores his jesting. As the lights turn green, the S takes off at lightning speed. I really didnt want to race (since it is illegal) but decided to punch it just a tad. By 60KPH we were side by side, and by 80 he was about 3 car lengths behind be. I shut it down but he kept going.

At the next light he begins revving again. I shake my head smiling and open my window. I say "hey nice car" He says "thanks", maybe thinking I was being sarcastic. I say "those are great cars aren't they? I have one at home" He says "sure you do". I'm getting the feeling that this fellow is far from personable and I add "its yellow." He just nodded probably thinking that my story was somekind of Hollywood gimmick. I suggested that he should visit the site at which point he stated he didnt have a computer, nor did he intend to ever use the internet. The light turned green, I waved and drove away slowly.

A strange kind of encounter really. I suppose things might have been different had I been driving the S, or had I not walked on him with a "Volkswagen" lol Oh well. Can't say I didn't try to be friendly.

Danny,

Have never dynod the Golf before, but I figure it has about 230-240HP and about the same in torque. The S was being launched alright...he had it revved up pretty darn good.

The Golf has a tuned G60 supercharged motor. With the mods I have, I am running at 14lbs of boost at 3000rpm. I did end up with an oil line popping out this afternoon which got a little messy, but ahh the joys of driving a modified car.

very nice, love that S4 blue. I am considering a "project" car too. Like you I'll leave me S alone since it is highly tunned already but I miss the modding thing.

Danny,

Yeah the Nogaro Blue is a great colour. Looks sharp in the sun. As for the project car, its a great idea, but having two "summer" cars just isn't very practical for me. With the right buyer I would likely sell the VW, but its hard to find someone that is willing to pay what it is worth to you. Ya know?

S2000r..don't race very much at all. Dont get out that much because of other commitments. Maybe this summer will be a little more interesting!

Not so much racing... Looks like the engine in the racecar blew up on the weekend. Throttle pedal stuck down (that's not a part that I built!!!) and it overreved. Otherwise we'd be in Calgary racing this weekend.

Rats. Ah well, hopefully we're ready for Vancouver Molson Indy...
