S2000 '02 to '05 upgrade
I currently own an '02 model. Is there really enough improvement to upgrade to the newer '05 model. Granted if I didin't own one, I would buy one, but i've seen the specs and in my opionion I just don't see the real value in upgrading.
What are you thoughts on this?

I lust after the '04 bumper and lip. As for the rest, I can do without. It all depends on if you have the "new car bug". Since you bought your current car used (you did, right?), you won't take the same shit-kicking on depreciation as those of us who bought new to begin with.
As many of you know, I made the switch from an '01 to an '04 last year.
When I decided to go ahead with the AP2, I decided based solely on asthetic changes. I never expected the performance aspect to vary as greatly as it does.
My S2000 is a daily driver, and as such, I spend a lot of time outside of VTEC. In my '01, my revs would be in the 3,500 range while cruising. I find that in my '04, I'm keeping the rev's in the 2,500 to 2,800 rpm range and still have plenty of power. Obviously going 120 kph on the highway, the rev's are still close to 4,000 rpm.
I miss the extra revs that were on the AP1, but I really don't redline my car often at all, so I don't miss the extra revs that much.
So, all in all, the new version of the S2000 isn't really "better." - Because in every area that Honda made changes, only subjective opinions can apply. My opinion is infact that the car has been improved. I don't believe the suspension has been softened up, contrary to what some "automotive journalists" claim.
There are a few "facts" though, about the changes.
The RE-050 tires are better in the rain, while still delivering equal dry grip compared to the OEM S-02
Having the clock in the instrument cluster is great
The pockets they put into the doors are useless, why'd they even bother?
The new cupholder is a joke. I love the asthetic look to it, but the functionality when it comes to holding beverages is retarded. I'd take the old cupholder if it looked like the new one

i almost bought an 01 but heard of the glass rear window on the 02 so i waited for that. as dylan/dave said and i agree i think the rest is cosmetic changes. you have to weigh the cost for this as opposed to your desire. generally the first three years are when a vehicle depreciates the most. the only thing i want is larger tires so i believe it is cheaper to purchase a set as opposed to a complete car. you didn't mention if color or km's are factors. i.m.o if the car runs great and is in good shape i would keep it.
