Default VTECHing

I recently broke in my s2k and i tried VTECHing for the first time. I went up to 8500 RPM in first gear before i shifted to second but when i shift, it is very jerky. I have tried multiple times to vary my clutching in order to match the RPM but it is still jerky. Is there any way i can make this smoother while VTECHing?

The 1-2nd shift can be jerky in all rpm ranges. Give it some time you'll find that medium and it will be smoother. Congrats on entering the new vtec land.

I think I know what you mean. If you drive "briskly" you must shift "briskly". That is to say, you need to complete your shift faster because your engine speed is slowing down to much. Also you need to get on the gas more when you let your clutch out. The engine is basically "slowing" you down after the shift. Then, when your throttle does finally catch up, the car lunges forward, thus the "jerk". As already said, "Practice".

well.... technically he's still dropping the clutch at 8500rpm to go to second; thus the term clutch drop may imply here as well as revving and droping the clutch to first... peace in the suburbs
