My tape looks terrible. It’s cracked and chipped. I like having the whole top black and I’ve been wondering about how I’d repair it. That’s the top of the wind screen…
Wrap or paint seem to be the easiest solutions. (Just noticed the chip. Is your car yellow?)
I'm not sure this is really "tape" in the traditional sense as looking at mine moments ago it seems to be three separate pieces of molded trim glued together fashioned into one piece.. The seams between the pieces match the seams in the roof fabric as the photo of my always garaged car (below) shows if you look closely. Seems designed to compliment the roof when that's up and make the car appear more open with the roof is down. (Pure guesses!)
It seems like a simple job to remove the weathered tape and, if the surface underneath looks good just pretend the car is a 2008 - 2009. If the area underneath looks bad or is even unfinished as notes from years ago mention can happen then the windshield frame can be painted black or wrapped. All depends on how much time and effort (and money!) you want to put into this. Removing the tape costs ya just your time.
It appears the tape went on before the windshield was fitted so any wrap would have to fit under the rubber as well. (Another guess.)
