Default Hood doesn't sit flush

Since I purchased my car my hood and fenders never aligned. I thought it was because of the carbon fiber hood it came with and it might be warped. Since then I purchased an OEM hood and it still looks the same. I've tried to adjust the latch and the rubber things and it still looks like it sits a tad high. Also when I pop the hood there's always a louder noise than when I hear other s2000's pop their hood. As almost as if there is a lot of pressure released when it is popped. As far as I know the car was never hit. There is no evidence of an accident or any repairs. Is there something else I need to try to fix this? I'll edit this post with a pic soon.

A quick way to check from your owner's manual. If the hood doesn't close properly it's misaligned. The bolts that hold it to the hinges have some slack as to the fenders. There's some slack in the latch as well. There should be insulating washers between the hood and hinges.
To close the hood, lift it up slightly to
remove the support rod from the
hole. Put the support rod back into
its holding clip. Lower the hood to
about a foot (30 cm) above the
fender, then let it drop. Make sure it
is securely latched.
(Emphasis added.)
